Club Rules

The soccer club rules are subject to change at any time.

  1. Playing Time
Everybody has an equal opportunity to play; however, the coach and the captain (in that order) decide the:
    • game plan
    • players
    • positions
    • playing time.
The coach and the captain are responsible for making substitutions during the game. Arguments from a player will not be tolerated.
A player who is tired during the game is encouraged to request a substitute. If the coach and the captain are unavailable, they must designate a bench player to assume their responsibilities.
If a player is displeased with his position and/or playing time, he should discuss his concerns with the coach or captain during a practice session or send an e-mail message to the coach or captain.
The coach and the captain will make every attempt to give a player a fair share of playing time. Given the vagaries of soccer games, it is very difficult for the coach and the captain to provide equal playing time for every player in every game. A player must cooperate with the coach and the captain as they attempt to field a strong soccer club while also letting every player have a fair amount of playing time.

    i) If a player disobeys the order from Captain after being called out for substitution, his next game is suspended; Second occurrence leads to automatically dismiss from the team permanently. No exceptions.
ii) If a player gives up playing at a pre-agreed position or walks away from the game without consent from team Captain, his next game is suspended; Second occurrence leads to automatical dismiss from the team. No exceptions.

  2. Yellow/Red Card Penalties
If a player receives a red card or two yellow cards, he must pay any fine that the NTPSA assesses. If the league enforces a suspension for a red-card penalty, the soccer club will suspended the player in like manner.

  3. Fees
A club member must promptly pay their share of league and soccer club fees. Once the season starts, the soccer club shall not refund any fees, unless there are extenuating circumstances. The soccer club cannot obtain a refund from the league.

  4. Uniform
The soccer club requires a red jersey, a white jersey, and one pair of dark blue shorts. There are no color requirements for socks and shoes. A club member must purchase his own equipment. The club assistants will help a new club member to order the required jerseys and shorts.
Shin guards are required by the league.
If a club member leaves the soccer club, the club will pay ten dollars ($10.00) for each item of apparel that it deems to be in reasonable condition.

  5. Club Member Referral
A club member is encouraged to refer new club members to the soccer club when there are available positions. The coach and the captain will initially screen the candidate. If the coach and the captain find the candidate to be acceptable, they will inform the current soccer club members. If the majority of the members approve of the candidate, the candidate will be admitted to the soccer club.

  6. Games and Practices
A club member must be punctual for every practice session and for every game. If a member cannot participate in a game, the member must inform the captain or the coach, or send email to "dragon@ez.swmed.edu".
The soccer club does not allow non-members to participate in league games. A member cannot ask a non-member to replace him for a game.
A player must not argue with a referee. If a player disagrees with a call, he should talk to the captain and let the captain discuss the issue with the referee.
A player must not argue or fight with an opponent on or off the field.
  7. Soccer Club Spirit
Friendly technical advice among club members is always encouraged. However, blaming other members for game mistakes, regardless of the situation, shall not be tolerated. It is the responsibility of every member to support their fellow members and to maintain a positive team atmosphere on and off the field.
  8. Enforcement Measures
The soccer club will take the following measures against a member who violates the club rules:
    • warnings
    • reduced playing time
    • suspensions for one game or for multiple games
    • non-renewal of club membership for the next season
    • termination of club membership for the remainder
