One suggestion on referee situation. You guys just moved up and I think you
guys may got a new set of refs who do not know you guys. But they may know
those guys on other teams. What are you going to do if you saw your
neighbor's kid fighting an other kid you don't know, are you going to ask
who's right? If you do, you should wear a skirt and do more cooking than
soccer.

Talk to the ref and get to know their names, that's the way to get some
calls. Work the ref is something you guys have to learn, I don't see any of
you yell at your boss as you did to these refs, remember, they are the
higher authority on the soccer field. Like it or not, that's the way it is.
There were couple of refs in 30D kind like us at the end, and some of the
team we played got upset about that, it took one or two season to get there,
be patient.

Have fun.

Guys. Here's a dollar from your right D sub.

It is of no doubt that our team has the skills superior to most of our
opponents. We have enough strength and subs to really let our conditioning
effect our performance as a team. We may not have a thorough understanding
of positioning and set-plays, as pointed out by Chen Gang, with which I
agree much and really hope to learn some of that on our Thursdays. But what
we lack now the most, in my opinion, is a supporting team spirit. (Much
like Brasil if you forgive the analogy)

In LA we have beaten teams much stronger than us by fighting to our last
breath. I think we all remember the good times when we knocked off China
Town and Qinghua. It was no easy feat but we fought hard as a team. If we
used that on these teams, it doesn't matter if the referee is biased. We'd
massacre these teams anyhow. We are good enough to win against most these
teams regardless of some bad calls from the ref.

Chen Gang is right, we can't stop yelling at or making fun of each other.
That's part of our game and our entertainment. But we should have an
understanding that these things are not meant to take personally. "It's a
game" as they say. We also may consider that certain unnecessary comments
may be to the detriment of our spirit. Let's try minimizing them.

Anyhow, we all want to win, we all want to have fun, we all want to bicker
with the referees when they make the wrong call, we all know our mistakes
and we all want to make fun of others when they make theirs. It's a perfect
team so let's enjoy it.

Dan

P.S. The old Chinese saying goes "Don't let a soccer game take away your
manhood"... :-)

The recent two games we played are kind of bitzare. Our defense allowed more
goals
than we ever did. Defense always win the game. We were facing a much
stronger team in our first league
game and we tied them 0:0 with good defense. With a lit bit more luck, we
could have defeated them.

We do not have a game strategy as to how we should play. "The Who" is not a
stronger team and historically never
beat us before. They know us well and they came up with a counter-attack
stragey and it worked. Trailing the game 0:2
are always hard to play. We probably need more sense of urgency if we are
behind and need to move the ball forward quickly and
commit more offense power, especially for the mid-field.

Yesterday's yelling and shouting was bad. Poor and no calls from refree
affected our play emotions. Agree with Xiao Yang that
we should light up and have more fun. Next time we should have only one
voice on and off the field. The rest of us shall keep
the mouth shut except encouraging words.

Also feel our pace is too slow . Should improve our play energy. ( sign
of aging ? )

Si Si, I might miss the next two games due to "vacation". Will let you
know my status.

All,

Is The Who? a really bad team? Should we feel upset about the 2:2 tie?
The answer is No. Just look at their result, and last season's, I do not
think so. They played pretty smart yesterday by having 6 players as
defense and counter-attacking us. That is something we should learn.

We were unlucky, 0:2 finished the 1st half! Those two goals could have
been avoided. No blaming. It was just unlucky.

We were lucky, 2:0 finished the 2nd half! They could have scored one
more and we could have scored at least couple of more goals.

What do we need to improve? More mid-fielders participating attacking.
Not assist! But obviously most of mid-fielders do not have enough body
strength to last long and stay long enough. Forward's ability to move
left/right, switching positions, etc. Ray's role in yesterday's game is
really superb! Left mid-fielders need to catch up. I did not see
dangerous plays from the left at all! Center mid-fielder's involvement
in attacking was almost zero. Well, it was my fault the first place. I
wanted to play harder......but.....(I was running a little fever and
could not even scream too much.)

Defenders' involvement in attacking is much needed. Assisting. This has
been mentioned actually for Thursday's practice session as well. Mid
range accurate passing needs to improve. It is really a surprise to see
when balls are intercepted because of lack of accuracy/strength.

Team's strategy: Comments are welcome.
1) Play team counter-attack if opponents all come out to midfield and
attack us; This will be our team's default strategy;
2) When opponents play counter-attack in case we need to win the game,
we play all team offense. I will play the last defender's position,
while Li Huan could play left midfield. Zhou Ge/Xiao Su play center for
attacking only.
3) Mutual attacking? Don't know yet.

Again, please voice your comments if any, and we could try it out in our
Thursday's practice. Do we need to have Thursday's practice? Yes, no
doubt about it. We passed/controlled the balls really good in general
yesterday in the back field. But speed might be too slow, in observation
of trailing 0:2. Balls got lost when it went to the forward field, in
form of 45 high balls, wrong passings, driblings etc. I think our
midfielder's attacking speed needs to be improved.

Anyway, this 30C division teams are quite even in team skills/strength.
I think all the 7 teams are able to beat us and we can also beat any one
of them as well. This is the fact! No easy wins in this division, even
with the last standing team! Can we easily win FC Devan (last place) and
United SC (last 2nd place)? ? ?

Please remember no too much blamings on/off the field and that we belong
to the same team, win or loose! Let's improve our team from each and
every player first.

Go Dragons,
-Chen, Si

PS, next Sunday's game vs FC Devan will be delayed to 5:00pm instead of
11:00am. Details to follow.
