Lao Tang and All, because of high expectations of winning the game, I think, but we tied instead, (actually tailing and coming back from 0:2 deficit). That upsets most players. Actually I was not upset that much. It happened a little quicker that I thought that what if one of teams play defense on us, what would happen? Especially if they are one goal ahead, maybe in the playoffs. I did not think our team has that kind of winning experience yet. It happened once when we lost to FC Devan 2:3 two seasons ago. So last game may actually server our team better in a sense of recognizing what our team needs to do in such situations. Just like a wakeup call. A wakeup call to Dick as well. And He Yi, who scored two super goals that tied the game. And everyone in the team. At least let's start to try it on our Thursday practices. We do seem to have a few players like to make a lot of un-sportsmanship comments and blow hot air on and off the fields... Let's try to limit that and become a more mature team. Now, what heck happened on the Sunday game??? :) -----Original Message----- From: Shi-Liang Yang [mailto:slyang@nortelnetworks.com] Sent: Monday, September 24, 2001 2:42 PM To: 'Chen, Mark'; Dragon (E-mail) Subject: RE: Is The Who? a really bad team All, I watched several games in 30D and 30C in the league. Many good team players made very little noise in the field, but, they use body language a lot instead. I guess that's called style and manner. Let's have some fun first before we think about "lose" or "win". Xiao Yang -----Original Message----- From: Chen, Mark [ mailto:MChen@santera.com] Sent: Monday, September 24, 2001 11:05 AM To: Dragon (E-mail) Subject: Is The Who? a really bad team All, Is The Who? a really bad team? Should we feel upset about the 2:2 tie? The answer is No. Just look at their result, and last season's, I do not think so. They played pretty smart yesterday by having 6 players as defense and counter-attacking us. That is something we should learn. We were unlucky, 0:2 finished the 1st half! Those two goals could have been avoided. No blaming. It was just unlucky. We were lucky, 2:0 finished the 2nd half! They could have scored one more and we could have scored at least couple of more goals. What do we need to improve? More mid-fielders participating attacking. Not assist! But obviously most of mid-fielders do not have enough body strength to last long and stay long enough. Forward's ability to move left/right, switching positions, etc. Ray's role in yesterday's game is really superb! Left mid-fielders need to catch up. I did not see dangerous plays from the left at all! Center mid-fielder's involvement in attacking was almost zero. Well, it was my fault the first place. I wanted to play harder......but.....(I was running a little fever and could not even scream too much.) Defenders' involvement in attacking is much needed. Assisting. This has been mentioned actually for Thursday's practice session as well. Mid range accurate passing needs to improve. It is really a surprise to see when balls are intercepted because of lack of accuracy/strength. Team's strategy: Comments are welcome. 1) Play team counter-attack if opponents all come out to midfield and attack us; This will be our team's default strategy; 2) When opponents play counter-attack in case we need to win the game, we play all team offense. I will play the last defender's position, while Li Huan could play left midfield. Zhou Ge/Xiao Su play center for attacking only. 3) Mutual attacking? Don't know yet. Again, please voice your comments if any, and we could try it out in our Thursday's practice. Do we need to have Thursday's practice? Yes, no doubt about it. We passed/controlled the balls really good in general yesterday in the back field. But speed might be too slow, in observation of trailing 0:2. Balls got lost when it went to the forward field, in form of 45 high balls, wrong passings, driblings etc. I think our midfielder's attacking speed needs to be improved. Anyway, this 30C division teams are quite even in team skills/strength. I think all the 7 teams are able to beat us and we can also beat any one of them as well. This is the fact! No easy wins in this division, even with the last standing team! Can we easily win FC Devan (last place) and United SC (last 2nd place)? ? ? Please remember no too much blamings on/off the field and that we belong to the same team, win or loose! Let's improve our team from each and every player first. Go Dragons, -Chen, Si PS, next Sunday's game vs FC Devan will be delayed to 5:00pm instead of 11:00am. Details to follow.
