Mark, Sorry for not responding to you sooner. As you may already know, my vote is for private team practice. Since Tom decide to move the mid-week game to Tuesday night, I suggest to have our practice on Thursday night. However, the starting time is not necessary to be as early as around 6 PM since some of us may not be able to get home that early. Considering some of us can not make it at all or may miss the practice from time to time, we may invite 4 ~ 6 ex-Dragons or potential Dragons players to join our practice. This can ensure us to have a 8 vs. 8 up to a 11 vs. 11 scrimmage during the practice. Yesterday's game convinces me that it becomes more important now to have a private practice session each week. We can use it to have some specific drills (e.g., slide tackle, one-touch pass, etc.) on purpose and we can have a more organized scrimmage, which make us know each other's playing style better. More communication (not just in the field) among teammates can help us playing a better game. I believe we have a pretty strong defense, which only allows less than one goal per game in average in previous regular seasons. However, in each regular season, seems there is one or two games in which our defense crashes all of sudden and allows 2 or more goals within 15 minutes (in most cases, we were taking a big lead). It is not just because our opponent playing very well at that time. Instead, it is because we lost our concentration and become too emotional after the referee's bias calls or the opponent player's intentional fouls and eventually we lost our confidence. This is a serious issue for us to resolve. I think better communication among defense players and appropriate subbing at this kind of difficult time could help. BTW, I suggest we may need to have some rules on our behavior in the field as well as on the sideline. The followings are my two concerns for now. First of all, don't complain too much and never yell at the referee no matter how bad the calls he has made. Pass your concerns to your captain and let him deal with the referee. Referee normally accepts complaints in this way. If he realizes he made mistakes (sometimes stupid ones), which may be normal because he is not a professional, he may compensate us back later if he thinks he get respected. If we push him too far, he can do whatever damage he can do to us and we can do nothing about it during or after the game. Secondly, we may cheer for our goals and tease our teammates. But never tease our opponent players loudly no matter how bad the mistakes they made. This may embarrass our opponent players and make the referee against us. We can always enjoy our discussion after the game. Go Dragons, Huan Li --- "Chen, Mark" <MChen@Santera.com> wrote: > Hi, > > Please let me know your thoughts on this for the > record at least.
