BURN SUFFERS 5-1 LOSS AT NEW ENGLAND
Burn Plays Final 20 Minutes a Man Down Following Ejection
The Dallas Burn suffered one of its worst losses of the year, dropping a
5-1 decision to the New England Revolution tonight at Foxboro Stadium.
Dallas (7-9-4, 25 points) conceded three of the five goals in the final
14 minutes of the match following the ejection of Justin Evans for
receiving two yellow cards.

New England tallied the first goal of the match in the ninth minute on a
beautiful individual effort by William Sunsing. Sunsing received a
through-ball about 35 yards from goal and proceeded to dribble through
three Burn defenders before burying the ball into the lower left corner
of the goal. The Burn came within inches of tying the match in the 37th
minute as Ariel Graziani dribbled around a defender into the left side
of the box. Graziani ripped a left-footer that beat Revs 'keeper Jeff
Causey, hit the underside of the crossbar and fell onto the goal line
before being cleared by the defense. With just seconds remaining in the
first half, New England broke through for the second goal of the game.
In the third and final minute of stoppage time, Cate sent a through ball
to Ted Chronopoulos at the top of the box. With Jordan charging off of
his line, Chronopoulos chipped the ball past a diving Jordan, with the
ball hitting the underside of the crossbar and falling behind the goal
line.

Any hopes of a Burn second half comeback were thwarted in the 70th
minute when Evans was ejected from the match after receiving his second
yellow card. New England wasted little time in capitalizing on the
man-advantage, netting their third goal in the 76th minute. An errant
header by Eric Dade fell to Cate 25 yards from goal. Cate vollied the
ball to Matt Okoh at the top of the box with Okoh blasting the ball down
the center of the goal. After the Revolution netted the game-clinching
third goal, the flood gates opened and the Revs added insurance goals in
the 79th minute by Cate and by Chronopoulos in the in the 81st minute.
Dallas did finally tally in the 86th minute as Aleksey Korol converted a
Graziani cross for the final 5-1 score line.

The Burn returns to action on Saturday, August 11 as they host the NY/NJ
MetroStars at the Cotton Bowl at 7:30 p.m.
